1. When is the Waterford Fair?  top of page
Always the first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October. In 2008, the dates are Oct 3-5.

2. What are the hours of the Fair?  top of page
10 a.m. through 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

3. What do you do if it rains?  top of page
The Fair goes on rain or shine. All buildings and vendors are open.

4. How do I get to Waterford, Virginia?  top of page

From the Beltway: Rt.267 (Dulles Toll road/Greenway) towards Leesburg, Virginia. Left exit onto Leesburg bypass (Rt. 7) west. Exit Rt. 9 west (Charlestown/Hillsboro). Right at the Shell station onto Rt. 662 (Clarke's Gap Road). 2½ miles into Waterford. You will be directed to parking.

From Baltimore and Frederick, MD: I-70 to Rt. 340/Rt. 15 south (Leesburg). Cross the Potomac at Point of Rocks, MD. Continue 4 miles to Lucketts, VA. Right onto Stumptown Road (Rt. 662) and follow to end (3½ miles). Left onto Loyalty Road. 2 miles into Waterford. You will be directed to parking.

From West Virginia: Rt. 9 east through Hillsboro, VA. Cross Rt. 287 at traffic light. Left on Rt. 704 (Hamilton Station Road) and follow to end. Left onto Clarke's Gap Road (Rt. 662). You will be directed to parking.

Call the Loudoun Convention and Visitors' Association (1-800-752-6118) for a list of nearby accommodations. Or visit their web site at www.visitloudoun.org .

There are three large parking fields. As you enter the village you will be directed by Fair traffic personnel.

7. How much do tickets cost?  top of page
Adults and teens: $15 at the gate; $13 in advance
Children: 12 and under are free.

8. Is there a discount for senior citizens?  top of page
No.

Children 12 and under are free.

10. What is included in the ticket price?  top of page
Parking, admission, tour houses and all exhibit buildings, all entertainment and re-enactments, crafts demonstrations, children's activities.

12. Are there group rates?  top of page
Student groups sponsored by a school and bus groups of at least 20 people can get group rates and special parking. Arrangements must be made in advance by calling the Waterford Foundation at (540) 882-3018, Monday through Friday from 9 to 5.

13. How do you arrange for a bus tour?  top of page

14. I am a member of The Waterford Foundation. Do I get complimentary tickets?  top of page
Members of the Waterford Foundation receive complimentary tickets according to the level of their membership contribution. Tickets will be mailed to members in September.

15. Is there food at the Fair?  top of page
There are many vendors throughout the village offering food for a variety of palates—sandwiches, barbeque, vegetarian snacks, drinks, ice cream, popcorn, and desserts. The Country Store carries cookies, pies, breads, jams, preserves, and other baked goods and confections.

16. Are there activities for children?  top of page
Many. Apple-butter making, Revolutionary and Civil War encampments, parades, and skirmishes, a magician, a mime, and strolling singers. A number of demonstrators have children participate in their crafts such as candle dipping, cookie cutting, pottery, and decorative paper cutting. Visit our Entertainment page.

No.

18. Are there military re-enactments?  top of page
There are Revolutionary and Civil War encampments. Musters, parades, skirmishes, a wreath laying at the Union Cemetery, and demonstrations of drill and weapons firing are held Saturday and Sunday. Visit our Entertainment page.

19. Is the Fair wheelchair accessible?  top of page
A limited number of handicapped parking spaces is reserved near each entry gate. The Fair is held throughout the village on hilly streets and uneven ground, and the village is closed to automobile traffic. A good deal of walking is required, and most of the historic buildings and private houses on tour are not wheelchair accessible.

20. May I bring my dog?  top of page
Please do not bring pets. The streets are crowded, and animals cannot be taken into buildings nor left unattended outside.

21. How can I get a brochure?  top of page
Call the Waterford Foundation office (540-882-3018) Monday through Friday between 9 and 5 and ask to be put on the mailing list or fill out the Information Request Form.

22. Is there an ATM at the Fair?  top of page
There is an ATM at the Corner Store only during the Fair . All of the exhibit buildings and many demonstrators take credit cards. Cash and personal checks are welcome everywhere.

23. How can I participate in the the Fair?  top of page
