Our 400 Volunteers

For more than 60 years, the Homes Tour & Crafts Exhibit has been presented only through the untiring dedication of our amazing volunteers.

We always need volunteers:

The Fair maintains its success through the hundreds of volunteers that help each year. Without these volunteers, the Fair couldn't be held.

If you would like to volunteer to be a docent at our house tours, to help at an information booth, or with any of the other behind the scenes activities, please or call the Waterford Foundation at 540-882-3018.

Participate

If you would like to participate in the Fair, here is what you need to do:

Art and Photography Exhibits

Further information will be available on this site in August. Please or call the Waterford Foundation at 540-882-3018 to be placed on the mailing list for our application form.

The Red Barn Art Exhibit is a judged show limited to two entries per artist. Prizes will be awarded.

The Art Mart is a sales outlet for paintings. Any number of entries by be submitted, but they are limited in price

The Popular Photography Exhibit takes place upstairs at the Chair Factory on Second Street during the Fair. This is a judged show and more than $1,000 in prizes are awarded.

The Florence Kiley Fellowship for Study in the Fine Arts, which honors a dedicated Loudoun County art teacher and artist, is a competition open to high school students in the graduating classes of 2008 or 2009. $2,500 will be awarded to the winner for use in further study

Consignment Shop Crafts

Further information will be available on this site in August. Please or call the Waterford Foundation at 540-882-3018 to be placed on the mailing list for our application form.

During the Waterford Homes Tour & Crafts Exhibit, the Waterford Foundation operates a consignment shop in an old Mill for approximately 100 craftspeople. These items are attractively displayed in this lovely and historic setting, and sold by Foundation volunteers; the craftsperson need not be present, although volunteer help is always welcome. The participation fee is $15 due at drop-off in September. There is a consignment fee of 25% of sales.

Exhibiting Your Crafts

Please or call the Waterford Foundation at 540-882-3018 for an application and guidelines.

You may apply to exhibit your crafts at the Fair. All exhibitors are selected by a selection committee to make sure that the quality and type of craft matches the Fair's guidelines. Because this is a demonstration Craft Exhibit, all exhibitors must demonstrate the making of their crafts during the Fair.

Host a Craftperson

Anyone who would enjoy hosting one of our craftspeople , please call the Foundation office. There are quite a few families who have participated in past years, and close friendships have been forged. For some families, this warm outreach to our visiting craftspeople has become a tradition, but each year brings changes and we need to fill gaps in our list of hosts.
Please or call the Waterford Foundation at 540-882-3018
