Waterford Craft School

On behalf of the Waterford Craft School, we hope you are truly well and safe at home. We are heeding CDC recommendations and adjusting our plans as new information becomes available.

We have adapted to the new Coronavirus restrictions by cancelling or postponing our previously-planned classes. We hope to hold classes online, outside or onsite, but we are making contingency plans in case we can’t do that. New for us, we are planning to hold classes in August, and perhaps September, if possible.

When we do reopen, we will follow appropriate social distancing recommendations, reducing class sizes and requiring masks if needed.
Because the decision about when to return to in-person programming is different for everyone, we are planning online, outside and onsite classes this summer and fall. However, we will reassess the situation and if we need to cancel, we will let you know about our decision two weeks prior to each class. If a class you registered for is postponed or cancelled, we’ll contact you individually so you can then transfer to another class, receive a credit towards a future class, or receive a full refund.

Check our Waterford Craft School website for the most up-to-date information.

Historic Waterford Trail Run

postponed to September 12, 2020

The safety of our runners, volunteers, vendors and staff is a top priority. We have decided to reschedule our Annual Trail run for September 12, 2020. We are excited to be able to provide our runners with more time to prepare and spread the word about this wonderful event.  Visit our COVID-19 Response Page for the most up-to-date information and to contact us with questions or concerns

The 76th Waterford Fair

to be the first ever “Virtual Fair”

In the interest of public health and safety considering the COVID-19 pandemic, the Waterford Foundation Board of Directors voted this week to cancel the 2020 Waterford Fair and shift to a digital event. As badly as we want to have the Fair, we must put our “fair community” first. After closely monitoring the CDC and Virginia state official’s advice, polling our artisans and vendors, and seeking the expertise of our county visitor’s bureau, we believe it is the right decision for 2020.
The Fair depends on the work and passion of hundreds of artists, Waterford residents, volunteers, vendors, and sponsors, many who fall into the “at risk” category. We understand the impact this cancellation has and are heartbroken to be in this position, as it adds to a growing list of pandemic-related cancellations. It is devastating to our budget and to that of our artisans, vendors, and many community partners, who rely on the Fair as a major fundraiser.
We are grateful to the group of outstanding juried fine craftsmen and artisans who help make the Fair so magical every year. We are committed to our 2020 artisans for 2021, removing the need for them to go through another jury process. They will also be able to participate in the first-ever Virtual Waterford Fair this fall. And we are extremely grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, community partners, and vendors whose partnership we value deeply.
We will deeply miss gathering and sharing Waterford with everyone this year but look forward to bringing a virtual Fair to you at home, October 2-4, and to working with you all once we move past this pandemic to make many happy memories together again in 2021. :
