Shaker Basket Weaving, A Gathering!
SESSION ONE: APRIL 7-8, 2018
Ms. Wychock returns to the Waterford Craft School to teach a new class in her popular basket weaving series. Ms Wychock has 37 years of experience in education; first as an art teacher and then as a principal. She belongs to the Bucks County Craftsmen’s Guild, the Bucks County Hand Weaver’s Guild and the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. She has sold her work up and down the east coast including as a juried artisan at the Waterford Fair. She has taught in her home studio, at the Mennonite Heritage Center, at the Mercer Museum and at Washington Crossing Park.
Ms Wychock works over wooden molds in the Shaker tradition. Her baskets are traditional in shape and materials. She weaves Shaker reproductions in ash and utilitarian baskets of reed. Native hardwoods such as ash and oak are used for rims and handles which are lashed using ash.
Ms Wychock is a Juried Artisan at the Waterford Fair.
